Ages: 11+ Years
The Championship Program is designed for swimmers ages 11 and older who are committed to pursuing higher levels of competitive swimming. Athletes in this program focus on qualifying for and competing at the Alberta Provincial and Alberta Championship levels while working toward national-level standards, including Western Championships (Best of the West Fest) and Junior National qualifying times.
Training emphasizes technical excellence, race skills, aerobic development, strength, and endurance. Swimmers spend significant time refining stroke mechanics and developing the physical and mental skills required for success in high-performance competition. Dryland conditioning is also an integral component of the program, supporting athletic development, injury prevention, and overall performance.
Championship 13 & Under and Championship 14 & Over are registration and billing designations. Within the Championship Program, swimmers are assigned by the coaching staff to one of three training roster groups (White, Blue, or Gold) based on their individual development and training needs. These roster groups may train together at certain sessions and separately at others, with schedules designed to best support athlete progression and performance.
Practices: 5–7 training sessions per week
Important: The training sessions displayed in the registration system represent the weekly training template. At this level, swimmers are assigned specific training rosters and schedules by the coaching staff.
Pools: Repsol Sport Centre and Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton
Practice Length: 90–120 minutes per session (typically 90 minutes of swimming plus up to 30 minutes of dryland training)
Meets: Average one meet per month
- If you are new to Cascade please contact the Office at office@cascadeswimming.com to arrange for a coach assessment before registering
- All competitive members require mandatory participation in our Parent Points Program. Please ensure all details of the program are reviewed prior to registration.
- In order to maintain enough trained officials to run swim meets, we ask members to take a class and and train a new officiating position each year. There is a $150 officials deposit added to your registration (excluding Varsity registrations) to help support this initiative. Once you have taken the course and shadowed the position on deck, the deposit will be refunded to your account. All information can be reviewed in our Officiating page.
